August 22 Head of School Weekly Update

Dear BACS Family,

Last spring, we reached out to you for feedback through parent fellowships and surveys, and we are grateful for the valuable insights you shared. Our leadership team and school board trustees carefully reviewed your responses, which have been instrumental in helping us plan and set goals for the future. Hopefully, you’ve seen some of the feedback come to fruition already on our campus.

We received hundreds of surveys, along with many insightful comments and ideas. The feedback was diverse in some areas, with a range of thoughts and opinions. Below, you’ll find some of the recurring themes and conversation threads that emerged. While this list isn’t exhaustive, it highlights consistent threads we noticed. If some suggestions haven’t been implemented yet, rest assured that we are still considering them for future initiatives.

STEM Options- This past summer we made substantial investments into our HS Physics Lab, and we are excited to soon announce a before-school elementary STEM club for grades 1st-6th.  Be on the lookout for more information in the near future from the elementary office.

Peer-to-Peer Interactions-  The overall culture on campus received overwhelmingly high remarks, which doesn’t come as a surprise. Our students feel safe, loved, and cared for.  That is a top priority for us. Unfortunately, we do live in a broken world where this is not a priority and sometimes poor behavior from our culture can seep into our campus.  We are committed to teaching and modeling for our students to be kind and respectful of each other.   Whether it be through chapel messages focused on how we should as followers of Christ treat each other, Christian values built into an academic lesson, or through normal conversations as we go about our day, we are dedicated to teaching our students to love and care for each other. This does require teaching, modeling, and a team effort of adults pulling in the same direction.

Lunch Options- You may have noticed that our lunch menu has changed and we’ve added more healthier options.  We’re excited to partner with our new vendors in feeding our students.

Communications- Being on a PreK-12th grade campus, there’s always a lot happening. Our goal is to keep you informed without overwhelming your inbox. Naturally, the more students you have and the more activities they participate in, the more communication you'll receive.  To streamline this process, we’ve merged the HoS Update and BWN into a single email, as a small step toward synchronizing our communications. Additionally, our teachers are committed to updating grades and lesson plans promptly. We’ll continue working hard to provide concise and timely communication to all of our families.

Traffic Flow- Our number one goal is getting over 800 K-12 students off campus in a safe manner.  Our current plan was the same plan that was vetted thoroughly and received high marks during our last accreditation visit.  Some helpful tips to remember during pick-up so that we keep all of our Broncos safe.

1. Follow the plan and don’t create different traffic patterns.

2. If you have a secondary and elementary student, pick up your secondary student first.

3. If you are picking up elementary only, arrive on campus after the dismissal time of 3:10.

We are confident this traffic plan works, however, we’ll continue evaluating what’s best and safest for our community.

What a joy and privilege it was to be back in Chapel with our students this week.  I’m very grateful to serve at a school that is committed to spending time each week in worship and diving into God’s Word.  Finally, we are looking forward to having breakfast on Friday morning with our Very Involved Parents.  Our parents continue to be the most generous and supportive people and we look forward to fellowshiping with you all.

It’s a great day to be a Bronco!
