  • BACS seeks those students and families who embrace a rigorous academic schedule and Christian values - all while meeting a high standard of achievement and conduct.
  • To be admitted, the student must not have more than one failing grade for the previous semester and must have a discipline record free of major infractions.
  • Christian values are encouraged through daily Bible class for all students, weekly chapel, Scripture memory, Christ-centered curriculum, Christian teachers as role models, and outstanding Christian leaders as guest speakers.

Our History

Beginning in 1973 as First Baptist Christian School of League City, the school grew to 230 students by 1978. By 1985, the school name was changed to Bay Area Christian School and has grown to currently serve over 900 daily in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. The strong demand for quality Christian education has produced consistent waiting lists since 1992 and has required multiple campus expansion efforts: a gymnasium and field house in 1995, a new elementary building in 2005, a new high school building in 2010, expansion for fine arts, and construction of an additional athletic center in 2016.

BACS serves the suburban South Houston area including students from League City, Clear Lake, Friendswood, Pearland, Dickinson, Alvin, Santa Fe, and other nearby cities. The school is expected to continue to have controlled quality growth in the future as it functions as a viable ministry of Bay Area Church.

Qualifications

Teacher Qualifications

All K-12 teachers have a baccalaureate degree with the majority holding a state recognized teacher's certificate. Teachers must have 24 college credit hours in the assigned teaching discipline at the secondary level while elementary teachers have elementary education courses.

Curriculum

The curriculum contains the traditional scope and sequence for grades PK-12. Frog Street, Gospel Light, Bob Jones University Press, ACSI Purposeful Design, A Beka, and others are used as needed.

BACS teaches to and beyond state standards but does not embrace Common Core.

Achievement Test Results

BACS uses the Iowa Assessment for kindergarten through 8th grades. The average scores on the core composite (all verbal and Math) for K-5th students as a whole is near the top quartile in the nation at 76%. BACS does not teach to the test, rather results are used as an aide to identify learning gaps and improve instruction.
